The Clapham Conservatory
We are excited to announce the Clapham Conservatory for the 2009-2010 school year. Clapham is expanding its music program to include an after-school music program twice a week from 3-5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We are thrilled to offer Clapham families the opportunity for musical instruction right at Clapham, as we think music is a gift that will last a lifetime. At Clapham, we seek to develop our student’s God given capacities as persons made in the image of God. We want to provide each of our students with positive musical experiences that will be carried with them throughout their lives. We are excited to offer opportunities that will give your child extra enrichment in musical areas in which they are interested. Each student who enrolls will also have the opportunity to perform in a recital at the end of each semester, demonstrating the work they have accomplished during their lessons. Students can register for one or two days a week of instruction. Each afternoon includes the option of private lessons, group lessons/small ensembles, and study hall. We are happy to announce the following options for the Clapham Conservatory:
Clapham Choir: Singing in a choir teaches the fundamentals of music in a way that all children can learn. Students will learn classic children’s choral literature in a fun and encouraging environment. The Clapham Choir meets Tuesdays for 60 minutes.
Private Lessons: One on one musical instruction is offered for students of all ages at beginning, intermediate or advanced levels. All private instrument lessons meet 30 minutes weekly. Lessons will be offered in:
- Piano
- Guitar
- Violin
- Flute
- Voice
Group Lessons: For beginners interested in Violin or Singing lessons, group lessons will be offered as a way to develop musical skills in a group environment. The instructor will divide 60 minutes into group and individual instruction.
Study Hall: While students are not in rehearsal or private lessons, they will engage in completing homework in a study-hall environment.
